Man driving a car

Car maintenance for spring is very important. Why? Well, for most people, their car is vital to their daily lives and is an expensive piece of property that needs to be treated as such. Unexpected car issues are not fun and can cost a lot of money. In addition, if your car breaks down it can be a major disruption of your daily life and cause unneeded stress. Even though a lot of drivers don't think about it, if you take care of your car with regular maintenance, it will last you a lot longer and save you a lot of time, money and headaches in the long run.

Today, we are going to talk about car maintenance for spring so you can keep your car running its best and stay on the road longer. We are also going to introduce you to an incredible automotive accessory that can get you out of a jam and save you a lot of time and money when needed.

Car maintenance for Spring: Don't forget about your car...

As the weather starts to turn nice during the Spring, many people start to focus on outdoor activities such as gardening around the house, taking care of their lawn or even camping and fishing. One thing you don't want to do though is neglect your car especially if you have long trips planned for Spring break or summer.

According to CBSNEWS.com...

"After what seemed like an endless winter, you may be planning to hit the road for a spring or summer road trip. Just take this factoid as a warning: AAA roadside service estimates that it helps more than 9 million stranded motorists during a summer.

If, like most Americans, you're not driving a fresh-from-the-showroom ride - the average age of passenger vehicles in the U.S. is just over 10 years old - its time to give your car a little springtime TLC.

"Drivers often overlook their cars when it is spring cleaning time," says Shawn Hoelzer, master technician for CarMax, the largest U.S. chain of used car dealerships. "Following a few easy steps to spruce up your vehicle helps avoid costly repairs."

So take your car to a dealership to get checked out - or, better yet, to an independent mechanic you trust."

Car maintenance for Spring: Do it yourself (or not)...

One great thing about this list is that many of these can be done by yourself if you want. Your vehicle's owners manual will give you a great deal of vital information you need in order to check many of these such as how to check the oil and fluid levels and even replacing wiper blades and lights if needed.

To do list...

If you don't feel comfortable checking these (even after referring to the owners manual), we recommend having a professional change your snow tires for you and they can also check the rest as well. Even though it may cost a little to have professional do these, it could save you a lot in the long run if a problem was ever to arise.

"I was at a weekend RV outing event this past summer. I saw three RV's, one car, and one truck get stuck due to excessive rain and mud that weekend. A guy had several sets of these with him in his RV and he actually used them on all three RV's, the car and truck to get unstuck. I was shocked the product worked so well. Based on the price these are a must in my opinion." 5 out of 5 stars

Hi Curtis - Nice post, I just got new tires put on my SUV and totally forgot that I need new wipers. Glad to be reminded here. The Portable Tow Truck is pure genius! I could have used that often in my younger days, getting stuck out in the field! Do you need 4 if it's an all wheel drive?

Hey Scott, thanks for commenting. Each set comes with two tire traction mats (one for each spinning tire) so you probably wouldn't need more than one set. We do have some customers that keep multiple sets in their vehicle though but that is not what we recommend. We'd love to have you as a customer so let me know if I can answer any more questions. We also have videos on our main page you can view and reviews on our review page at www.ThePortableTowTruck.com. Thanks, Curtis

This is the first time I have ever heard of this product. What rock have I been under. Are there variations of this for different tire size/vehicle weights? The article itself was also very informative. As a motorcyclist, I have checklist for things like this for the bike but never thought about for my car. Looks like I need to create another list. Cheers

Hey Chris, thanks for commenting. The beauty of our one size fits all product is that it works on cars, trucks, vans, RVs and small, medium and large commercial vehicles including box trucks, dump trucks, and 18 wheelers and the weight does not matter. If I can answer any more questions for you about the product please let me know. Thanks, Curtis

This is a great checklist. Being female, I find that I don't want to do this myself. My way of getting a "free car check-up" is by taking it to the dealership for say, just an oil change. Then they proceed to check everything for me and give me the results! Works great for me! Great info though, I am going to print off and give to my son.

Great ideas for a vehicle maintenance checklist, and a timely reminder that I need to get on to this stuff. Especially as I keep my car outside year round, it's even more important to be regularly checking my car. Thanks so much, Cheers, Karen

Your list is helpful and timely. But the portable tow truck is exceptional! We've been renting three acres and are moving this month, but we call this property, "the mud hole." This winter has been so horrible for 2 months straight. We've been stuck so many times and each time I tried to fashion something like "the portable tow truck." These will make awesome, practical Christmas presents!
